Our Multi-cultural Story
Our congregation was formed in 1967 in the midst of a time of rapid ethnic shifts in our neighborhood. Making a visible witness to our bonds across racial barriers, three Presbyterian churches, two African-American and one Caucasion disolved to form one new church on our present Marsalis Avenue property.
We continue to live as a congregation blessed by our multi-ethnic herritage. Our neighborhood is now almost entirely African-American and our membership is mostly African-American as well. We still join together bonded as brothers and sisters in Christ across our ethnic differences.
Our multi-cultural community is genuine and blessed.
